Staff of over 100, In Noida school will receive safety measures training

Over 10,000 staff members from 124 private schools in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district attended a day-long workshop organised by the Noida Authority on safety norms for child safety. The workshop briefed principals, teachers, security guards, drivers, conductors, and housekeeping staff. This comes after a 7-year-old was found murdered at Gurugram’s Ryan International School.

A day long workshop to train the staff of schools for safety measures was held in Gautam Budh Nagar on Sunday by the district administration following the shocking murder of a class 2 student at Ryan International School, Gurgaon.

The workshop organised by district magistrate (DM) BN Singh was held at Gautam Budh University in Greater Noida and more than 10,000 staff from 124 private schools in the district participated in it. Public representatives, including senior superintendent of police, fire officers and education department officials were also present at the workshop.

The gruesome murder of an eight-year-old student at a private school raised questions on safety norms practised by private schools across India. Parents have been demanding action against such schools that are negligent towards following norms laid down by Supreme Court and the schools’ regulatory body.

In the wake of increased protests by parents, DM BN Singh had invited staff from all major schools in the district in order to sensitize them towards child safety and following the safety norms.

The workshop was conducted in two sessions where the first was attended by school owners, principals and teachers and the second session was attended by security guards, drivers, conductors and house-keeping staff.

“I want to make this clear that the district administration is extremely serious about child safety in school premises. If any untoward incident occurs against a child inside a school, then the administration will take strict action against the school body and none will be spared,” said Singh.

The magistrate reiterated his ultimatum to private schools asking them to fix all loopholes till September 30 and follow the guidelines issued by the Central Board of School Education (CBSE).

“Post September 30, we will initiate an inspection of the schools and if any is found violating CBSE norms, then strict action will be taken against the school body,” said Singh.
