The police on Sunday arrested BJP worker Chi Na Ramu’s son and three others for allegedly assaulting a police constable outside a bar in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar. The accused, who were under the influence of alcohol, assaulted the police constable with his lathi after he intervened in a fight picked by them. Ramu alleged that police assaulted his son in custody.
Malleswaram police on Sunday arrested a gang of four youths, including the son of a BJP party worker for assaulting a police constable. The incident took place in a bar on Saturday night and they quarrelled with bar staff over serving water.
The arrested are identified as Karl Marx (21), son of Chi. Na. Ramu, Principal Secretary BJP, SC Morcha, his friends Shreyas, Keshav and Chetan all aged 20 years and residents of Malleswaram were also arrested.
They were under the influence of alcohol and while leaving the bar, Marx picked up a quarrel with cashier to get water bottle. Constable Umesh along with home guard Rudresh were patrolling the area and rushed there to see what happened. Umesh pushed Marx out from the bar using lathi. Marx snatched the lathi and attacked Umesh brutally with the help of his friends. Rudresh came out of the bar while the staff tried to save Umesh and alerted the Hoysala police. They were taken into custody and after the interrogation they were arrested on the charges of assault and handed over to judicial custody.
