Srinagar, Sep 27: A jawan of the Border Security Force (BSF), who had come for vacation, was shot dead by terrorists who suddenly entered into his residence in Jammu & Kashmir’s Bandipora on Wednesday.
The dead jawan had returned home on a vacation. His killing recalls the murder of Lt Umar Fayyaz, who was killed by LeT-Hizb fighters. The attack comes in the background of back-to-back setbacks faced by the armed people who are trying to take control in South Kashmir.
The dead person, identified as Rameez Ahmad Parray, was killed on the spot after being fired upon by fighters at his home in Hajin area of Bandipora. Four of his family members – father, two brothers and aunt – were also hurt in the attack. The condition of Parrey’s aunt is stated to be serious.
The fighters ran away from/escaped the scene after the attack. A search operation was launched by police in the Bandipora district to nab the terrorists. The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, S P Vaid, termed the event as “shockingly cruel and cruel and shocking” and said the guilty would be punished.
Parray’s murder recalls the killing of Lt Umer Fayyaz , who was (captured by the use of force) from a wedding reception, and violently/harshly murdered by terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. The 22-year-old, who had also returned on a vacation, belonged to the troubled area of Kulgam in South Kashmir. The young officer was (put into use/paid in exchange for services) into the Army in December last year.
The terror attack in Bandipora today comes in the background of back-to-back setbacks faced by the armed people who are trying to take control in J&K. The Army has also succeeded in cracking down on the fighters in South Kashmir, which was carefully thought about/believed as ground zero of aggressiveness in the Valley.
“There is no appearance of any space where fighters or separatists are in control. Fighters are in (taking care of yourself) mode,” said Maj Gen. B S Raju while speaking to PTI on Tuesday.
The Major claimed that fighters in the Valley would now look for more (far apart from others) targets, as seen in the killing of BSF jawan Parray and Lt Fayyaz, since they have lost the might to combat directly with the forces.
“These days they are not targeting the army directly, but are looking at softer targets,” he was quoted as saying.
