The Ministry of Railways has reportedly decided to recruit one lakh people in the ‘sanraksha shreynee’ (safety category). The move comes after five incidents of train derailment were reported in the month of September. The Railway Ministry will also start a track renewal exercise under which almost 2,000 km of track would be renewed to reduce derailments, report said.
As per reports, senior and junior engineers will be hired for the safety category. Apart from this, assistant station master and guards will be recruited by Railways. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will fill 50 per cent of seats in group C and in Group D vacant seats will be filled by RRB and RRC (Railway Recruitment Cell), mentioned a Dainik Jagran Report.
Right after taking over the charge of Railway Ministry, Piyush Goyal directed railway officials to ask catering staff of Railways to stop overcharging for food and not to seek tips from the passengers. In this regard, a letter from the Goyal’s office was dispatched to all railway units across the country. Also, catering inspectors were instructed to check if Goyal’s orders were being followed or not.
